The Story of this dress is worth reading:
This Dress was made in 2006 - My mother was diagnosed with Ovarian Cancer and given 6 months to live. Being engaged for several years I decided it was time to tie the knot and give my mother the opportunity to see her daughter get married and to enjoy all of the things a mother of the bride should be able to experience such as being there for her daughter when I chose my wedding dress.
I had a particular style in mind and having a background in fashion design, decided I would have something custom made. We spent countless weekends travelling in Ontario and Quebec, searching for the perfect French Lace for this dress, which we finally found in Montreal. The lace is French Antique from Paris.
After designing the silhouette the design and fabric was brought to the wonderfully talented Laeysing, in Ottawa (Westboro) and she certainly worked her magic. After countless fittings and months gone by, the fabric, the inspiration and the journey all came together into one breathtaking dress.
My mother was able to see her daughter walk down the aisle in this dress yes. But most importantly she was able to take the journey with me, from December 05 to July 06 where we had some of the best times of our lives together and grew closer then we could have ever been.
My mother, the strong woman that she was, survived another 2 years with her cancer. She was here long enough to see my brother get married, to meet her first grandchild as well as my brothers first child as well.
My mother passed away this past April - much has changed in my life and the decision to sell this dress was based on a few things. One is the journey I promised my mother I would take to better myself, and the money from this dress will go towards that, as well as 20% towards Ovarian Cancer Research.
This dress was filled with so much love from the the inception of the idea right through to the day it was finally worn. I hope that whoever purchases this dress will feel the love that was put into it and have that carry through to you on your wedding day as well.
Now enough about that. Let's get to the dirty details shall we?
The dress is a soft white eggshell antique lace. The breast cup is B and the dress would be considered a size 2. However I did put this dress on about 2 months after i got married and I was pregnant and a size 4 and it still fit me just fine. There is a train at the back about 2.5 feet. Dress is backless. The pictures speak for themselves.
i no longer have the ribbon which is around the waist but it was purchased at a fabric store. if you like the dress i will purchase a ribbbon for you in the color of your choice.
